Sandwiched between national touring musical acts and the occasional movie, local favorite Tommy Thomsen has a show coming up at the Sebastiani Theatre that will be of interest to dance lovers in the area.

In country/western parlance, Tommy Thomsen has been rode hard and put up wet. But now in his 70s, he’s a testament to the healing power of music.

Born and raised in Sonoma, 75-year-old Tommy Thomsen is a music superstar. Inducted into multiple Western Swing Halls of Fame, Tommy has the presence of a rock star, a deep gravelly voice, and an encyclopedic recall of his extraordinary life. 

Tommy Thomsen, a Sonoma native, has dedicated his life to Western Swing music, inspired by his musical family and a pivotal moment at the Sonoma County Fair. He formed the Wills Point Playboys and traveled extensively, earning multiple Hall of Fame honors. Today, he continues to share his passion through his radio show, Swingin’ Out West, and his ownership of the Church of Western Swing in Texas.

Texas Governor Rick Perry officially designates Western Swing as the official music of the state of Texas.
